Spreckels Lake

Parent reviewed

Locals sail their miniature sailboats here in the tiny lake. The water is very accessible for kiddos wanting to dip their hands in, but there is a lot of goose poop

My kid is into all things boats and trains right now.  On Sunday mornings after 10am, a group of hobbyists will come and sail their model mini yachts and ships in this cute, man made lake. the water is right at foot level so kids want to dip their feet and hands in - beware there are friendly catfish who will think you’re feeding them! All in all, we spent a solid 45 minutes here, looking at all the individually designed ships and watching them sail through the water. And then we teased the cat fish. Not a bad morning, for waiting for dim sum to open.

Also worth knowing
There's some sort of mini motor boat club that gathers after 10am at the lake. These people are enthusiastic hobbyists with really intricate mobile boats.
